Barcelona have signed Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid by triggering his buyout clause
A breakdown between the France international and Los Colchoneros took place last month when Griezmann announced his desire to part ways with the club where he spent five years.
The Catalans have long been chasing the 28-year-old, having tried to lure him to the Camp Nou last summer, but the deal has never gone through.
However, a year later, the reigning La Liga champions have managed to snap up the French forward after paying Atletico Madrid €120m to release him.
The former Real Sociedad man has signed a five-year contract with the Blaugrana that also includes a massive €800m release clause.
The left-footed forward is expected to team up with Leo Messi and Luis Suarez in the final third after both, Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho, struggled to impress the last term.
Ernesto Valverde’s pursuit of the Champions League glory will certainly receive a huge boost with Griezmann’s arrival, especially considering the French superstar also seeks his first trophy in Europe’s top-tier competition.
