Cengiz Under has committed his long-term future to AS Roma, putting an end to continuous rumors about his departure
The Giallorossi have announced on their official website that the 22-year-old forward has penned a new deal that will tie him down to the Stadio Olimpico until 2023.
While enjoying a rise to the stardom in his maiden Serie A season at Roma, the highly-rated Turkish youngster has attracted interest from several major European sides, including Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich.
While the Gunners’ intent to bring him to the Premier League cooled ahead of the summer transfer window, the Bavarians have been studying the possibility of hiring Under after Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery announced their departures.
But, due to various physical problems that have kept him out of action on several occasions the last term, the former İstanbul Başakşehir has not been in the spotlight like it was the case during the 2017-18 campaign.
Nonetheless, the Serie A giants have always been showing appreciation for Under’s services and have been determined to keep hold of him.
Roma’s efforts to persuade the Turkey international to stay in Rome have come to fruition now, which will see the player’s salary increase from €1m to €2m per year.
