The Brazilian center-back David Luiz has officially joined Arsenal from Chelsea on a deadline day
It took the Gunners £8m to convince the Blues to allow Luiz to swap allegiances even though the player has recently signed a new deal and committed his long-term future to Chelsea.

After the former skipper, Laurent Koscielny, left the Emirates to join Bordeaux, Unai Emery has been forced to react in the market and find another experienced central defender.
Although the 32-year-old has not been the Spaniard’s first choice, the fact that Arsenal struggled to sign neither Juventus’ Daniele Rugani or RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano has left the club with a little room for maneuver.
The former Paris Saint-Germain rearguard has collected 160 outings for Chelsea during his seven-year time at Stamford Bridge that has been divided into two spells.
Luiz first joined the Pensioners from Benfica in 2011 before leaving London for PSG in 2014 only to return to Chelsea’s ranks two years later.
Although he endured a tough ride last season, Luiz is expected to bring experience and energy to Arsenal’s backline and partner Sokratis in the heart of Emery’s defense.
