Ahead of Manchester United’s trip to Camp Nou, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed Alexis Sanchez has recovered from injury and will feature the squad in Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Barcelona
Author of a disappointing season, the Chilean star has been on a barren run by his standards, managing just two goals and four assists in 23 top-flight appearances for the Red Devils.
A knee injury that has forced the 30-year-old to remain on the sidelines for the past five weeks has only added to his woe, but Sanchez has returned to full training and will be available for Wednesday’s showdown.
However, Solskjaer will probably bench his highest-paid player although he won’t hesitate to use him if needed.
“Fitness-wise he’s available and of course, for Alexis who’s been here and played here, when he’s on the pitch he wants to prove a point for us as well,” the Norwegian manager explained.
“He’s been injured, he’s not had a fantastic season so far, and let’s hope he can end the season great.
“We’re in the business end, playing games Manchester United are used to playing in.
“We’re challenging for a semi-final, so let’s hope Alexis when he’s on the pitch he can be happy with his performance.”
The Premier League giants are said to be considering axing former Barcelona forward, mainly due to his whopping £500,000-a-week wages.
