Ozil agent reflects on Mesut status at Arsenal

Mesut Ozil’s agent has opened up on his client’s frustrating situation at Arsenal.

Ozil has yet to feature for Arsenal this season after being deemed surplus to requirements by current manager Mikel Arteta. The reason behind Arteta’s decision to cast away the club’s highest earner remains a mystery. However, the fact that the Gunners’ most creative player is frozen out amid an utterly disappointing time for the team continues to confuse everyone.

Ozil, whose deal at the Emirates expires in summer 2021, has already made it clear he will see out his contract no matter what. Therefore, Arsenal won’t be able to get rid of the 32-year-old’s exorbitant wages in the January transfer market. Having that said, Arteta may want to consider playing his most prolific playmaker to try to revive his side’s season before it’s too late.

A lack of creativity in the final third has seen Arsenal score only ten goals in their opening 12 Premier League fixtures. Ozil’s unparalleled vision and pinpoint passing skills are what the Londoners need to bounce back from a dismal start to the season. But, that remains only and only in Arteta’s hands, who for the time being seems highly unlikely to think about reintegrating the out-of-sorts midfielder into the squad.

Ozil’s agent Erkut Sogut has reflected on his client’s status in the capital but without clearing things that are going on behind the scene.

“Even one day is a long time in football, you never know. Of course, there are many clubs interested in him. This has never changed, but his willingness to honor his contract and play hasn’t changed either,” he told talkSPORT.

“Again, he’s a man of his word, loyal, and loyalty is hard to find in these times. It is not an easy situation. He loves the club, and the fans are deeply sorry that he has not been given a chance this season.

“Mesut was the player who reached 50 Premier League assists, faster than anyone else, in 141 appearances, and Arsenal need exactly this kind of creativity.

“They say he was sidelined for ‘football reasons,’ but that’s not something I can comment on. I think the fans want him back on the pitch, and at the last match, they also chanted his name.

“It’s a shame that Mesut isn’t playing. Of course, everyone focuses on his salary, and I also understand why. But from a personal perspective, I say it’s a waste considering his talent and creativity.

“I talked to Arsenal a few days before the summer transfer window, and I told them about Mesut’s feelings, his desire to stay, and how much he loved the club. And they never told me he wouldn’t be in the squad. It was a surprise to all of us, something that clearly hit him hard.”
