Pep Guardiola has given his assessment of Manchester City’s defeat to city rivals Manchester United on Saturday
The perennial champions suffered a 2-1 loss to the Red Devils, practically surrendering the league title to Liverpool, who are now 14 points clear at the summit.
It was City’s second reverse in their last five Premier League outings, as they now face an uphill task of bridging a staggering gap on Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Marcus Rashford opened the scoring at the Etihad from a spot-kick before Anthony Martial gave Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side a two-goal cushion ahead of the break.
Although Manchester City pushed hard to level the score in the second half, Nicolas Otamendi’s header in the 85th minute wasn’t enough for the hosts to rescue a point.

During the post-match interview, Pep Guardiola has hailed his team’s performance despite the negative outcome.
“I like how my team played,” he said, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.
“We conceded a little bit more, not than usual, but than in the last years against United.
“In general, we did what we like. We arrived in the final third many, many, many, many times. Unfortunately, we couldn’t finish a little bit more, but I like to watch my team. I know nobody agrees, but I like it.”
