Shock reports from Spain suggest that Manchester City rejected a sensational opportunity to take Barcelona outcast, Philippe Coutinho, this summer
The Citizens were allegedly offered a chance to take the Brazilian playmaker on loan soon after Leroy Sane picked up a nasty injury in City’s Community Shield win over Liverpool.
Having damaged his anterior cruciate ligament, the German winger has undergone surgery and is now facing a lengthy spell out of action, as he might remain on the sidelines for the entire 2019/20 campaign.

According to Marca, even though Sane’s injury represents a major blow to Pep Guardiola’s plans for defending the Premier League title and potentially winning the Champions League, the Spaniard has refused to land the former Liverpool man.
Coutinho has since left the Catalans to link up with Bayern Munich who forked out €8.5million to take him on a season-long loan, with an option to make the deal permanent for €120million next summer.
Interestingly, the Bavarians have been chasing Sane throughout the recently finished transfer window but have eventually ended up signing the 27-year-old as Franck Ribery’s replacement.
