Barcelona’s top January target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is reportedly ready to leave Arsenal for La Liga this winter, reports in England say
The Catalans are looking for a prolific striker to replace Luis Suarez, who will miss the remainder of the season due to a knee injury.
Aubameyang is a real target for the reigning Spanish champions, and according to the Daily Express, the Gabon international is happy to link up with Lionel Messi and Co by the end of January.
With less than 18 months left on his current contract at the Etihad, the 30-year-old forward is likely to leave the Gunners either now or in the summer, especially after his contract talks with Arsenal stalled.
Arsenal are reluctant to see their prized asset leave north London this winter, but they could be powerless to prevent him from switching away due to their inability to challenge for major trophies.
The fact that Barcelona can offer Aubameyang a prospect of winning titles regularly gives them the upper hand over the Londoners in negotiations.
But, Arsenal will do everything to set back the Blaugrana’s efforts to snap up the former Borussia Dortmund star and have already slapped a price tag of over £50million on Aubameyang’s head to fend off interest.
The Catalan giants can’t wait for the summer to pile more pressure on the Gunners, who again seem unable to reach the top-four in the Premier League, and Valencia’s Rodrigo Moreno could end up moving to the Camp Nou this month.
Indeed, Barcelona could revive their interest in the Spaniard should they fail to convince Arsenal to sell their superstar.
