Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly set their sights on the out-of-favor Liverpool centre-back Joel Matip, multiple reports say
Matip played a prominent role in 2018/19. He then made 22 Premier League appearances and added eight more in the Champions League, helping Liverpool win the competition for the first time since 2005.
However, the 28-year-old has tumbled down the pecking order this season, registering just eight top-flight starts, as Jurgen Klopp often preferred Joe Gomez as Virgil van Dijk’s defensive partner.
Despite having four years left on his contract at Anfield, the former Schalke man might consider parting ways as early as this summer.
Newly-crowned Premier League champions have already identified Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly as their prime defensive target for the upcoming transfer window.
If the Reds do manage to overcome the Senegalese’s massive price tag and get the deal over the line, Matip’s first-team opportunities would be further reduced next season.

But, according to the talkSPORT, Paris Saint-Germain are ready to offer Matip an escape route from England, as Thomas Tuchel holds the centre-back in high esteem.
Faced with the imminent departure of captain Thiago Silva, Tuchel is desperate to bolster his defensive options ahead of the new season.
The PSG gaffer highly appreciates Matip’s defensive attributes and his composure with the ball at his feet and is ready to table an offer in the region of £50million.
In addition to the ever-present Marquinhos, the only reliable defender left at Tuchel’s disposal is Presnel Kimpembe, after Thilo Kehrer failed to live up to expectations.
