PSV Eindhoven are furious with Steven Bergwijn for leaving for Tottenham Hotspur without the club’s permission, reports in England confirmed
Bergwijn’s decision to depart for London without authorization has infuriated the Eredivisie giants, who insist Spurs have yet to meet their demands.
Although Tottenham and the player found an agreement over personal terms, the Premier League heavyweights are still £5m short of PSV’s £30m valuation.
The 22-year-old Dutchman informed the Farmers interim boss Ernest Faber to leave his name out of the squad for Sunday’s matchup with Twente that finished in a 1-1 stalemate, as confirmed by The Guardian.

🤚 “I never refused to play for PSV. Media is spinning things against me to look like a rat.
🙌 I called the manager & spoke about how things are in play, he accepted & wished me good luck.”
Described as a pacey winger, with excellent shooting and crossing ability, Bergwijn has established himself as one of the hottest prospects in Europe, which is why Jose Mourinho wants him at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
It is now a near-certainty that Spurs will lose Christian Eriksen to Inter Milan this January, and the Netherlands international is the one tipped to fill the gap even though the two are not the same type of players.
But, Bergwijn’s versatility allows him to act as a playmaker behind the strikers too, which makes him even more valuable to Tottenham at this point.
