Lokomotiv Moscow attacking midfielder Aleksey Miranchuk could reportedly end up signing for Manchester United this winter, according to reports from Italy and England
United are weighing up a £35m move for Miranchuk, who has previously been linked with a switch to Serie A, with Juventus, AC Milan, and Lazio all showing interest in his services.
As reported by the Daily Mirror, the 24-year-old’s entourages are pushing him to the English Premier League instead of Italy.
A versatile attacking midfielder, the Russia international can cover both wings equally well and has often been deployed as a playmaker behind the strikers too.
Author of a stunning season in both the Russian Premier League and the Champions League, Miranchuk has already racked up nine goals and four assists so far this term.
His versatility, vision, passing, and goalscoring instinct make him a perfect candidate to shake up Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s midfield that has often been criticized for lack of creativity and energy this season.
With Paul Pogba’s future hanging up in the air, the Norwegian manager needs to strengthen his midfield, especially given that Fred has never managed to repay the money the Red Devils forked out to sign him from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018.
The out-of-favor Nemanja Matic is also expected to leave Old Trafford in January, which would see Solskjaer left with Andreas Pereira as the only alternative to Scott McTominay.
