Richarlison has continued the war of words between Everton and Liverpool on the eve of the 236th Merseyside Derby
Runaway Premier League leaders head to Goodison Park to take on cross-town rivals Everton on Sunday, looking to move a step closer towards winning their first league title in 30 years.
Led by one of the best defenders on the planet, Virgil van Dijk, Jurgen Klopp’s men will look to bring their unbeaten run in top-flight H2Hs with arch-rivals to 19 games.
But, Everton forward, Richarlison, has tried to frustrate the towering Dutch centre-back, naming “three better defenders” than him in the build-up to this massive showdown.
“People talk a lot about him [Van Dijk]. Yes, he is a great defender, but I’ve already dribbled past him,” Richarlison said in an interview with Desimpedidos, as relayed by GiveMeSport.

“He was chosen as one of the top three in the world as he had an excellent season. But yes, for me, there are better defenders.”
Asked to identify those three players, the Brazilian forward said: “Thiago Silva, Marquinhos and Sergio Ramos.”
But, Richarlison’s words have no foundation since Van Dijk was named the PFA Players’ Player of the Year last season and lost the Ballon d’Or race to Lionel Messi.
