Sadio Mane outlines Liverpool’s ambition ahead of Champions League final

Liverpool’s talisman Sadio Mane has underlined Reds’ ambition to lift the Champions League trophy in the build-up to their massive showdown against Tottenham Hotspur on June 1

The Merseysiders have battled their way to the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano following an outstanding second-leg comeback against Barcelona in their semi-final tie.

Even though they’ve suffered a 3-0 loss in the first leg, Jurgen Klopp’s men have refused to give up and have eventually swept the Catalans aside with a commanding 4-0 triumph at Anfield.

It will be Liverpool’s second Champions League final in as many years, as they are eager to better their last season’s result when they finished as runners-up after a 3-0 demolition to Real Madrid.

One of the Reds’ standout performers, Sadio Mane, has spoken about his desire to see his team on the top of Europe for the first time since the 2004-05 campaign.

“We’re not here to think twice about it.”

“We have some experience about it, and we know how it is because we were there last year and were unlucky we didn’t win, although Real (Madrid) were very good,” the Senegalese winger told

“We are feeling really, really positive, and for us, it would be a big, big thing (to win it).

“Tottenham and ourselves are both really young, but we both have lots of experience and have played every kind of game. It is exciting, and we want to win it, for sure – everybody knows.

“We’re not here to think twice about it. We’re just going to go there to try to win it.”

Beating Spurs in the first all-English final since the 2007-08 campaign won’t be an easy task for Liverpool although the Reds have won three of their previous five head-to-head meetings.

However, a potential victory in Madrid would compensate for Liverpool’s grieve after missing out on the Premier League title despite gathering 97 league points.
