Leroy Sane is on the verge of completing his long-awaited move to Bayern Munich after the Bavarians found an agreement with Manchester City, reports say
According to the German publication, Bild, as relayed by the Daily Express, Sane will join Bayern Munich when the transfer window reopens for business after Manchester City agreed to sell their wantaway winger.
The perennial Bundesliga champions have been trying to land the 24-year-old German ever since last summer, but talks were postponed when the left-footed winger picked up a long-term injury.
In fact, Sane has missed the entire Premier League season so far due to a severe knee injury and has turned down all of City’s previous attempts to extend his contract.
Former Schalke man has entered the final year of his deal at the Etihad and has made it clear that he wants to return to his homeland in the summer.
Pep Guardiola, who is a big admirer of Sane, has recently expressed his disappointment with the fact the Germany international will not be a part of the Manchester City squad next season.
“I’m so disappointed. When we make an offer, it’s because we want him; he’s got a special quality that is difficult to find,” the Sky Blues boss said.
The Bundesliga champions will pay an initial fee of £44.7m, with a series of performance and trophy-related add ons…💰— Sky Sports Premier League (@SkySportsPL) June 30, 2020
“We tried before the injury [and] the surgery and after that, and he rejected this offer.
“He has other wishes, and I understand [but] we want players who want to commit and achieve our targets.
“I love him so much, he’s incredible, I’ve nothing against him – he wants another adventure.
“That happens, and we’ll help him while he’s here, and focus on the players who want to stay.
“Leroy said he doesn’t want to extend – it means he wants to leave and he will leave this summer or next.
“The club talked to me, and he’s rejected his contract and wants to play for another.”
Bayern will reportedly pay Manchester City around €60million for Sane’s signature, add-ons included.
