Sergio Aguero wrote his name down in the Premier League history books, as Manchester City ran riot at Villa Park on Sunday evening
Rampant Manchester City demolished relegation-threatened Aston Villa 6-1 on the road to reclaim the second place in the table, with Sergio Aguero netting a record-breaking 12th Premier League hat-trick.
The Argentinean hitman has overhauled Alan Shearer’s record of 11 hat-tricks in England’s top-tier, taking his tally to 177 goals since making his Premier League debut against Swansea in 2011.
While drawing level with Franck Lampard on goals scored in the competition, Aguero has beaten Thierry Henry’s record of 175 Premier League goals, becoming the most prolific foreign striker in the history of English top-flight football.

Manchester United legends, Andrew Cole and Wayne Rooney, as well as the abovementioned Alan Shearer, are now the only players who scored more Premier League goals than the 31-year-old.
Although he will hardly manage to beat Shearer’s outstanding record of 260 Premier League goals, the former Atletico Madrid man can still surpass Cole (187) and Rooney (208) by the end of his adventure at Manchester City.
Even if he fails to make his way into the competition’s top-three scorers of all time, Aguero will, nonetheless, go down as one of the best strikers the Premier League has ever seen.
