Solskjaer eager to use Manchester United youngsters more often

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has promised he will hand more game time to the youngsters following a narrow 1-0 home win over Astana on Thursday evening

The Red Devils have kicked off their Europa League campaign with a bang, with Mason Greenwood scoring a wonderful solo goal in the 73rd minute.

Waiting for the injured Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial to return to the fold, Solskjaer has decided to give a chance to the youth products to showcase their skills.

Axel Tuanzebe, Angel Gomes, Tahith Chong, and Greenwood all broke into United’s starting lineup for the first time this term, and all have managed to live up to expectations.

During the post-match interview, the Norwegian tactician has insisted that he will continue introducing young lads into his first-team squad, starting next week.

“We may it hard for ourselves,” the Solskjaer stated, according to Goal.com. “Games like these you can make sure you win the game in the first 20 minutes if you take one or two of the chances and then you can enjoy it.

“You could see that some of our lads needed games. It’s pleasing that we got three points. We got off to a decent start in that respect.

“We think today was a great opportunity for [the younger players]. We wouldn’t throw them in if we didn’t feel they were ready, but you can still see they need game time.

“You get your rhythm when you play a game every week, so some of them won’t play against West Ham, but they’ll play against Rochdale in midweek.”
