Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel has dropped a massive statement on Neymar following PSG’s 2-1 Ligue 1 win over Angers
The Brazilian scored the opening goal for the Parisians at the Stade Raymond-Kopa and assisted Angel Di Maria for the second.
Widely regarded as one of the best players in the world, the 27-year-old has been PSG’s mainstay ever since his world-record €222m transfer from Barcelona back in 2017.
However, the Brazil international has had to skip the majority of the season due to a foot injury and has returned to action in late April.
Still, injury problems have not prevented Neymar from bagging 22 goals and adding 12 assists for the reigning Ligue 1 holders this term.
Even though he is the third highest-paid player on the planet and possesses unquestionable quality, Thomas Tuchel believes Neymar is not the “profile” to wear the captain’s armband.

“No [on Neymar being a future PSG captain], we have two captains in Thiago Silva and Marquinhos — we will not be changing that,” said the German tactician. “For me, Neymar does not have the profile to be a captain with the armband.
“He is a technical leader through his creativity, but he is not an armband-wearing captain. It is not necessary that he wears it and I do not understand why everybody is suddenly speaking about this.
“We must be respectful – we have Thiago and Marquinhos, who are fantastic.”
Heavily approached by Real Madrid over the past few months, former Santos star may leave Paris this summer, and Tuchel’s latest words have only brought more uncertainty over Neymar’s future at Parc des Princes.
