Timo Werner favors Liverpool over Bayern Munich move

Bayern Munich target Timo Werner is reportedly keen to leave RB Leipzig for Liverpool instead of joining the Bavarians

The perennial German champions hold a long-term interest in Werner, who has been one of the most lethal forwards in the Bundesliga over the past few seasons.

He has scored 20 goals and assisted six in Germany’s top tier so far this season and is only two short of Bayern’s talisman Robert Lewandowski, who tops the scoring chart with 22.

In the meantime, the Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, who always keeps close tabs on going-on in his native country, has added the 23-year-old forward to his wishlist.

Now, according to renowned football pundit, Kevin Hatchard, Werner wants to link up with Klopp rather than join Leipzig’s bitter Bundesliga rivals.

“They’re talking about the top end of €60million,” Hatchard said, as transcribed by the talkSPORT.

“So, for me, for a player of his quality and experience, bearing in mind this is a guy who is in his early to mid-20’s, and he has played over 200 games in the Bundesliga.

“So vastly experienced already, improving all the time, I think he has really benefited from playing under Julien Nagelsmann because he played as an out-and-out striker for pretty much his whole career.

“So he is improving, and I think he would do very well in the Premier League, he has said on numerous occasions he thinks the Premier League is an exciting prospect and some pretty reliable German media sources are saying that Liverpool are very much one of the clubs who want to sign him and he is keen.”

The current Premier League leaders are on the lookout for a new striker to challenge Roberto Firmino for a place in the starting eleven, and Werner is ticking many of the boxes for the type of player they are looking to recruit.
