Ferran Torres is on the verge of joining Manchester City after Valencia accepted a €25million-plus-add-ons offer from the English side, multiple reports say
Talks between Manchester City and Valencia for Ferran Torres have been well underway from quite some time, and according to Eurosport, the parties are on the brink of finding an agreement.
Although the La Liga club initially asked for £40million, the impact of the coronavirus crisis and the fact the 20-year-old winger has entered the final year of his contract forced Valencia to lower their claims.
Torres will make a switch to the Etihad for an initial €25million that could go up to €37million if certain contractual clauses are met in the future.
The Spanish under-21 forward should fill in for Leroy Sane, who joined Bayern Munich at the beginning of the month.
But, Torres’ versatility might allow him to deputize as a makeshift central midfielder now that David Silva played his last match for Manchester City.
Having lost two of his star players, Pep Guardiola is expected to revamp his options further up the pitch to improve City’s chances of dethroning Liverpool next season.
Indeed, after an underwhelming season for the Sky Blues, Guardiola is hopeful to be granted the opportunity to overhaul the squad that finished 18 points adrift of Jurgen Klopp’s side.
As it seems, Torres could be one of several players to join Guardiola’s team in the summer to help Manchester City restore their status of the Premier League supreme force come the next season.
