Tottenham lead race for Real Madrid misfit

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly named the out-of-favor Real Madrid midfielder Isco Alarcon as a perfect replacement for their outgoing star Christian Eriksen

It is now a near-certainty that Spurs will not be able to keep hold of the Danish playmaker once his contract runs out next summer, which will affect the landscape of Tottenham.

The 27-year-old’s desire to try his luck away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is not a secret, with Real Madrid leading the race for his signature, according to the latest reports.

Eriksen will be able to negotiate personal terms over his future with the clubs outside the Premier League from January 1, and Los Blancos are tipped to accelerate their interest once the winter window opens.

Eriksen’s departure will undoubtedly leave Mauricio Pochettino’s midfield exposed, and Daniel Levy plans to fill that void by securing the services of Isco Alarcon, according to the Daily Express.

Having tumbled down Zinedine Zidane’s pecking order, the Spaniard has found his top-flight opportunities limited to just 104 minutes this term, and a potential breakup with Real Madrid is on the cards.

But, the 27-year-old contract that ties him down to the Santiago Bernabeu until 2022 means the London giants will have to dig deep into their pockets to lure him away from the Spanish capital.

That also means that any kind of a swap deal involving Eriksen and Isco will be overlooked by Los Blancos, who are in a strong bargaining position when it comes to the Spanish midfielder’s future at the club.
