According to some shock reports from England, Inter Milan captain Mauro Icardi could leave the Estadio Giuseppe Meazza this winter in spite of his recent statements suggesting otherwise.
Closely followed by Real Madrid and Chelsea over the past few months, the Argentinean striker has revealed his desire to extend his association with the Nerazzurri on multiple occasions.
Icardi’s contract with Inter expires in 2021, but the Milanese giants have already started working on his extension.
Although the 25-year-old already reiterated his willingness to stay in Italy’s fashion capital, his wife and entourage Wanda Nara has allegedly informed the club her husband won’t renew his contract.
Wanda Nara: "Contract talk? We are not close at all, Mauro is at a higher level. There are clubs from England, Spain and France that want him" https://t.co/lffI54tgKJ— FedeNerazzurra (@_FedeNerazzurra) January 9, 2019
Nara has handed Icardi’s potential suitors a huge boost, with Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri frantically trying to lure the ex-Sampdoria man away from Serie A.
The Italian tactician has been struggling for reliable attacking options this year, with both Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata underperforming for the majority of the season.
The former Napoli coach has labeled Icardi his top target for the January transfer session after AC Milan rejected Blues’ offer for Gonzalo Higuain.
During his five-year spell at Inter, Icardi has established himself as one of the most prolific goalscorers in Europe’s top five leagues.
The former Barcelona’s youth academy product claimed the Capocannoniere last season, adding 13 goals in 22 top-flight outings this term.
