Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha has received death threats following his team’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal last weekend.
The 25-year-old winger has won a penalty in the 83rd minute, which ultimately ended Arsenal’s 11-game winning streak. However, the way Zaha convinced the referee Martin Atkinson to reward a penalty kick for the hosts have been interpreted as a disgraceful ‘dive’ by the Gunners fans.
According to the sources close to the Ivorian star, the former Manchester United man has been a subject of racial abuse on social media. Moreover, some of the enraged fans have sent death threats to the player and his family.
On the other hand, the 25-year-old forward have gone public to defend himself and his dearest ones.
“For all the people taking it one step further and being racist and wishing death on my family I wish your families the best too. My life is still very good despite your hate,” Zaha wrote on Instagram.
It was the second consecutive time Zaha has won a spot-kick for his side after the road clash with Everton.
