Willian’s career at Chelsea is drawing to a close as the winger agreed on a three-year deal with Arsenal, the latest reports in England confirm
Willian joined Chelsea from Anzhi Makhachkala in 2013 in a deal worth £30million and has gone on to become one of the vital first-team players at Stamford Bridge.
During his seven-year spell in west London, the 31-year-old forward has recorded 63 goals and 62 assists in 339 appearances for the Blues.
Although Frank Lampard was keen to extend the Brazilian’s contract that runs out in the summer, the parties have failed to reach an agreement over fresh terms.
While Willian insisted on a three-year deal, Chelsea were reluctant to offer him more than two years on a new contract.
Now, according to the Daily Mail, the Corinthians academy graduate will move across the capital to join cross-town rivals Arsenal after the Gunners offered him the long-term deal he has demanded.
Before the Emirates outfit stepped in to seal the deal on Bosman transfer, Willian’s agent Kia Joorabchian had acknowledged interest from five clubs in his client.
In addition to the two Premier League clubs, a couple of the MLS sides were reportedly interested in taking the pacey forward across the Atlantic Ocean.
After lifting five titles with Chelsea, including two Premier League crowns, Willian had to watch his new employers win the all-London FA Cup final from the sidelines due to an injury.
